Vice President, Multinational Business Development
Multinational Title Services Group
Stewart Title Guaranty Company – National Title Services
San Diego, California

Since 2008, David Wiesley has served as Vice President, Multinational Business Development with Stewart Title Guaranty. He is a recognized as a pioneer and expert in Mexico’s title insurance industry and has been quoted in several leading periodicals including The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times. He has spent the majority of his professional career in commercial real estate working with U.S.-based clients in Mexico.

With the passage of Mexico’s new Foreign Investment Law in 1993, and the pending passage of NAFTA, Wiesley’s clients were opting to purchase facilities and develop industrial and resort projects throughout the country. A key ingredient to those transactions was the necessity of title insurance to secure Mexican real property ownership risk. In the event of a title problem, there was limited recourse to the owner/lender.

In early 1994, Wiesley and several partners approached Mexico’s oldest and largest insurance company, Grupo Nacional Provincial (GNP) about introducing title insurance to Mexico. By year’s end, this effort led to the first title insurance policies registered with and approved by the Mexican Insurance Commission. Subsequently, Wiesley’s group successfully negotiated a reinsurance contract between Chicago Title and Grupo Nacional Provincial. From 1995 to 2000, Wiesley served as president of Title Insurance de Mexico, Inc., the exclusive agent for the GNP/Chicago Title policies.

From 2000 to 2005, Wiesley served as Vice President of Mexico operations for First American Title Insurance Company.

From 2005 through October 2008, Mr. Wiesley founded and served as President of FirstMexico Group, LLC, a title insurance and realty advisor providing risk management strategies for purchasing and developing real estate throughout Mexico.

Wiesley received his undergraduate degree in Economics from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas and a Master in International Management from the Thunderbird School of Global Management in Glendale, Arizona. He is bi-lingual in English and Spanish.
